Florida Lawmakers Approved Legalized Sports Betting Now What?
The mobile and retail sports betting markets in Arizona launched Sept. 9, 2021. The Illinois sports betting laws allow for sports betting lounges to operate at the state’s 10 riverboat casino venues, and it also allows horse racing tracks in the state to host sportsbooks. Lottery retail locations could also offer sports betting under the law. Florida saw its sports betting market launch in October 2021 with retail operations active through the Florida Seminole run Hard Rock Casinos.
States like Wyoming and Tennessee in particular are the only two markets that are mobile-only sports betting. Wyoming is an online and mobile-only market which means locals will find no legal retail sportsbooks in operation. Wyoming accepts bettors who are at least 18 years old and is the first US market to accept cryptocurrencies as payment for sports betting. Legal sports betting in Virginia went through a bit of a non-traditional way to get here but it is finally up and running. However the stipulations of the bill required that a study be conducted about Virginia sports betting and that it had to pass again in 2020 before it was officially legalized.
